East End Volleyball Leagues Accepting Teams for 2007 Season
Â
East End Volleyball’s League Program on Long Island is now accepting teams for its 23rd summer season. Leagues start May 29 and continue through Aug. 29. Five separate divisions are offered for players of all levels from novice to very skilled. The recreational coed 6-player division is for novice players who are out for a fun night on the beach in a loosely refereed game. The competitive coed 6-player division ups the ante a little with all teams understanding the basic strategies of beach volleyball. Teams will all use 3Â hits to set up the spiker and have very good ball control and knowledge of the game.
Â
The 4-player division is for players who have stronger ball control skills and can cover more of the court than coed 6s players. The next step up is the coed triples division which is the highest level in EEVB’s league program. The top triples players all play weekend tournaments in Open and AA divisions and create a very competitive yet fun environment in this league designed for very skilled players.
Â
EEVB’s doubles league is entering it’s 2nd season which ranges from intermediate to very skilled players. The goal of this league is to develop players for weekend tournaments. Teams will be mixed up regardless of their division during the regular season schedule. As teams win each week they will move up to a stronger court. As teams lose, they drop down. This format lets players find their own level while always playing competitive games. Teams will separate at the end of the season for playoffs.
Â
Fees for the league are approximately $75/player for the 12 week season. Further info is available online at www.eevb.net/leagues.htm. Single players can find a team through the EEVB web site bulletin board. There are many players listed there right now looking to join teams.
Â
All EEVB leagues and tournaments are sanctioned by AVPNext, the official grass roots organization of the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour. Wilson Volleyball is the official ball of AVPNext and EEVB. Additional sponsors are Spirit Airlines; Native Eyewear, Venus Swimwear, Iron Horse Bikes, Atlantic City Convention & Visitor’s Authority, VolleyChick, Vincere Sand Socks, Spike Nashbar, Sweet Tomatoes, Rider Sandals, Park & Sun net systems, Dig Magazine, 6 Flags Great Adventure/Hurricane Harbor, Down River Outfitters, Volleyball Magazine, Sportime.
