(Long Island, NY) A Central Islip man arrested at the New York-Canadian border last week by New York State Police will be arraigned on an indictment by Acting State Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho today in First District court in Central Islip.

Sylvestro Liotta, 45, of Central Islip, is charged with running over Orlando Marquez of Brentwood on February 18 and leaving the scene at Caleb’s Path near Bushwick Avenue in Brentwood.
During a routine check of passengers traveling to Canada on a Trailways bus, border protection agents discovered Liotta had an outstanding warrant in Suffolk County in connection with the fatal hit-and-run. He was removed from the bus and arrested April 17 at a checkpoint on a bridge to Fort Erie, Ontario.
Justice Camacho will call the court calendar at 9:30 am.
Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the government to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
