Love’s Divide, an un-romantic comedy, is a striking He said/She said series of dialogues and monologues that plumb the endless depths of love, emerging with revelations both hilarious and heartbreaking. Now playing at Dillons Theatre, 245 West 54th St.Â
While the tone shifts effortlessly from cynical to sincere, painful to hopeful, plaintive to provocative, the audience reacts with immediate recognition and empathy – with laughter, tears and even offense.Â
Whether discussing the relative merits of various sexual techniques-for example, the “Jackhammer†approach of certain over-eager Casanovas-the excruciating minutia of dating protocol, or the lingering shadow of a recently departed lover, the actors attack the subject head-on, with consummate skill and breathless candor.Â
Spoken from experience and related with unfaltering conviction, this is love in all its myriad forms-a simultaneous “Screw You†and “Thank You†to lovers past, and those yet to come.Â
