Residents encouraged to donate old cell phones for Cell Phones for Soldiers program
(Long Island, NY) Americans will replace an estimated 150 million cell phones this year, and many of those unwanted cell phones will be stuffed into desk drawers or thrown in boxes. That is why Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) has registered his district office in Huntington Station as an official drop-off site for Cell Phones for Soldiers in an effort to encourage people to donate their old cell phones for a great cause.
“Providing service members the ability to call home and stay in touch with their loved ones is a simple way we can provide them with a sense of connection,” said Assemblyman Lupinacci. “Our fighting men and women are making a tremendous sacrifice on our behalf and this small connection with home can mean the world to them.”
Cell Phones for Soldiers is a non-profit which collects thousands of unwanted cell phones each month and sends the phones to ReCellular. ReCellular then pays the organization “Cell Phones for Soldiers” a fee to afford millions of pre-paid calling cards for U.S. troops stationed overseas.
To help our troops call home by donating your old cell phone, please stop by or mail your phone to Assemblyman Lupinacci’s district office at 1783 New York Avenue in Huntington Station. Questions? Simply call Lupinacci’s district office at 631-271-8025.
