Make it a day on, not a day off!
(Hempstead, NY) The Long Island Volunteer Center (LIVC) and nonprofit organization, General Needs Ltd. are collecting full size toiletries to be distributed to homeless veterans and veterans in need in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a National Day of Service. The collection drive will take place January 2 – 15, 2018 at Westy Self Storage in East Northport located at 4049 Jericho Tpke. A box will be in the main lobby to drop off donations. The following Full Size items are needed: Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Soap, Toothbrushes (2/3 pack), Toothpaste, Razors (5 pack), Shaving Cream, Deodorant, Brush & Comb Set, and Feminine Hygiene Products.
According to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” This day is meant to bring together all members of the community to serve. Toiletries are needed for our countries veterans that have served and returned from war. This population needs our help as many of them have now found themselves homeless. Please join us by hosting your own toiletry collection drive by January 15, 2018 and place a box in your office or school or engage family and friends to collect needed toiletries for our men and women of service.
