Legislator Schneiderman’s legislation expands the reduction for Veterans at Suffolk County Parks Golf Courses
(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Parks, Recreation and Conservation currently provide Suffolk County senior citizens with a discounted green fee on County golf courses. Last year, Legislator Schneiderman sponsored Introductory Resolution 1949-12, To Modify Golf Fees for Veterans. Schneiderman believed that discounts should be provided to our Suffolk County Veterans in recognition of their service, On March 5, 2013, the Suffolk County Legislature unanimously passed that Resolution. The Suffolk County Budget Review Office estimates a positive fiscal impact with a small increase in revenue resulting from the proposed fee schedule modifications contained in the resolution.
The bill now moves to Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, he is expected to sign. Once the measure if fully implemented Suffolk County Veterans can contact the Parks Department at (631) 854-4949 or go to Suffolk County Park locations where green keys are sold with proper proof of residency, veterans must submit DD Form 214 (Certificate of release or Discharge from Active Duty) or Suffolk County Veteran Resident ID card-issued by Suffolk County Veterans Agency.
