East End Public Meeting for Cleaner, Greener Communities Sustainability Plan Rescheduled
(North Hempstead, NY) The public input meeting for the Cleaner, Greener Communities Plan for the East End of Long Island scheduled for tonight, March 6, has been rescheduled to Monday March 11.
The public is invited to attend a meeting and provide input for the regional sustainability plan being created through the Cleaner, Green Communities grant. The Town of North Hempstead is the lead agency for this planning grant from the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) to create a regional sustainability plan for Long Island.
The sustainability plan will focus on greenhouse gas reduction and job creation within the topic areas of: water management, waste management, community development & housing, energy and transportation, land use & livable communities. The eight month planning process will be completed by the end of April.
The East End meeting that was scheduled for tonight at Southampton Town Hall, 116 Hampton Rd, Southampton, NY from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. is going to be cancelled due to impending storm. The meeting has been rescheduled for Monday March 11th from 7:00pm to 9:00 pm.
The steering committee of the Long Island region consists of The Town of North Hempstead, Vision Long Island, the Sustainability Institute at Molloy College, the Community Development Corporation of Long Island and AECOM. These groups will be presenting the work completed so far and soliciting input from all Long Island residents.
