Sentencing Today for North Bay Shore Who Murdered Ex-girlfriend and 2-Year old
(Long Island, NY) A 25 year old North Bay Shore man, who pleaded guilty to killing his ex-girlfriend and her 2-year old son, will be sentenced this morning (Wednesday April 3) in Suffolk County court in Riverhead.

On December 18, 2011, Jerry A. Lewis stabbed Shakeela Planter, 21, to death and then fatally beat her two year old son, Jaiden. Lewis wrapped the tot’s body in plastic and placed the corpse in the freezer in Planter’s basement apartment on South Cardinal Court in North Bayshore.
Lewis was arrested in Laurel, Maryland on Christmas Eve in 2011 when he turned himself in to police.
Lewis suspected Planter of dating other men.
Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said “The defendant is guilty of two horrific homicides and this office will recommend the maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.”
Judge Richard Ambro will call the court calendar at 9:30 am.
