The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Stony Brook and the Setauket Presbyterian Church announce a presentation of the play What Killed Marcelo Lucero? on Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m.
(Long Island, NY) On Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m., the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Stony Brook and the Setauket Presbyterian Church will jointly host The Teatro Experimental Yerbabruja theatre group to present the play What Killed Marcelo Lucero? at the Setauket Presbyterian Church. Written by Margarita Espada in English and Spanish, the play explores the social and political forces surrounding the tragic death of Marcelo Lucero, an Ecuadorean immigrant who was stabbed to death by a white teenager in Patchogue in 2008.

What Killed Marcelo Lucero?
This is the second in a series of three evenings being jointly hosted by the two religious organization to explore and share stories about immigration past, present and future. The events are open to the public, and people are welcome to learn, express their concerns and connect with people on the front lines of the immigration issue.
Author Espada hopes to engage members of the audience in a dialogue about the lives of immigrants on Long Island and the hate crimes committed against them. A panel of immigrant activists and interfaith clergy will facilitate the dialogue. This performance in Setauket Presbyterian’s Fellowship Hall, at 5 Caroline Avenue, Setauket, will be the final presentation of the play after four years of creating dialogue in communities across Long Island.
Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Additional information is available by visiting http://www.setauketpresbyterian.org or calling 631-941-4271.
