(Long Island, NY) A Certified Public Accountant has been directed by Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota to surrender at the county courthouse in Riverhead on Tuesday, June 10, for the second time in seven months.
Scott Meyer, a former partner of the Johnson and Meyer accounting firm in Huntington, has been free on bail since his initial arrest by DA detective-investigators in December of last year.

District Attorney Spota said Meyer was charged in the initial indictment with six counts of grand larceny in the second degree for victimizing an 80 year old Greenport man suffering from dementia, a disabled victim living in an assisted living facility in California, and a not for profit cemetery association in Huntington. “The defendant allegedly stole more than $800,000 from the two senior citizens and the not for profit group by acting as the victims’ accountant and writing checks to himself from his clients’ accounts,” DA Spota said.
Meyer, 48, of Seaford, will appear before Justice Mark Cohen (4th floor of the courthouse) on Tuesday morning.
The court calendar call is at 9:30 am.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
