A-List Celebrity Stylists – A New Breed of Celebrity – Nolé Marin – Patricia Field – Phillip Bloch
(Long Island, N.Y.) In the fashion and entertainment world not only are the stars, designers and models significant celebrities but the people who create their image on the screen and in print are now just as important.
High-powered celebrity fashion stylists do more than just select designer dresses for their clients while jet-setting around the globe. Most celebrity stylists have acquired their skill by starting out as wardrobe and fashion stylists. Celebrity stylists design looks for red carpet events, promotional tours, press junkets and television interviews. These fashion professionals are considered image makers who style their clients for photo-ops and media appearances. Throughout my entertainment career I have come to know and interview many stylist experts including “America’s Top Model” Nolé Marin, “Sex And the City” Patricia Field and Celebrity Stylist Phillip Bloch.
Nolé Marin, a former fashion editor of ELLE Magazine, is a Canadian fashion stylist. Mr. Marin is one of the most respected fashion professionals in the fashion industry. He is also a fashion stylist who occasionally does hair and wardrobe for models before their shoots a well as previously organizing fashion editorials for ELLE magazine.
Mr. Marin is best known as the celebrity judge stylist on the UPN’s hit series “America’s Next Top Model.” He was responsible for judging contestants Eva Pigford and Naima Mora resulting in them winning the competition. During the filming of the TV Realty Show he feuded with co-judge Janice Dickinson. Their tumultuous conflicts eventually resulted in them both being terminated from the hit TV show in 2005. The two fashion personalities were replaced by coach J. Alexander and fashion icon Twiggy. Marin returned to the judging panel for the show’s 12th cycle as a guest judge in the third episode.
Currently he has been appointed as the fashion director for the international fashion and entertainment news agency Runway Magazine.
I caught up with Nolé at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring 2011 and interviewed him about his recent project working with Silhouette Eyewear.
Mr. Marin joined Silhouette’s team of rimless aesthetic consultants to provide eyeglass wearers with abbreviated eyewear makeovers through professional aesthetic consultations at Fashion Night Out during New York’s Fashion Week.
At the moment Mr. Marin is currently working on his latest project as the Creative Fashion Director for Runway Magazine. For more info on this fashion quarterly publication please visit www.runwaylive.com

Known as one of the greatest visionaries in the fashion industry Patricia Field is a true New Yorker who is best known for styling the cast of the hit TV show “Sex And The City.” Ms. Field has been nominated for an Academy Award and has received an Emmy Award for Best Television Costume Designer. Patricia received critical praise and raised the standards for the world of television glamour when she costumed HBO’s Sex and the City, the most fashionable show in television history. Field is a true pioneer who has brought forth a new style of dressing to American women and has stimulated an entire fashion movement throughout the world.
Patricia established her career with the launch of her Greenwich Village boutique in 1966. For over 40 years this downtown institution has been an internationally known favorite of celebrities, in-the-know “scenesters” and the fashion-forward. Her trendy boutique has been a defining factor in the urban style of New York’s glittery nightlife and has been a major influence to launch the careers of many innovative young designers and stylists. Patricia opened two subsequent stores, another Patricia Field Boutique on 6th Avenue and the highly successful Hotel Venus in Soho. The Patricia Field boutique now joyously resides back in its East Village neighborhood on the Bowery, an up-and-coming area of Manhattan.
Not only is she famous for her styling participation in “Sex And The City” she has worked on an impressive list of projects including television’s Crime Story, Wiseguy, Spin City, Hope and Faith, Six Degrees, Cashmere Mafia, Kath & Kim and more recently Ugly Betty. Her film credits include Miami Rhapsody, The Substitute, Dear Diary, The Devil Wears Prada, Confessions of a Shopaholic and the upcoming Sex and the City movie sequel. Patricia also heads all of the styling work for Payless Shoes print and television advertising and the Vidal Sassoon Namie Amuro campaign in Japan.
Recently Patricia worked with Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall to promote Bailey’s Irish Cream Red Bow bottle. The 2009 holiday bottle inspired the designer to create a gorgeous red dress with a huge bow to spread the festive cheer. Her latest endeavor is a collaboration with the Keith Haring Foundation to create a Patricia Field for Keith Haring accessories and ready-to-wear collection.
In 1989, Patricia received an Emmy for Outstanding Costumes for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special for Disney’s television feature Mother Goose Rock and Rhyme.
