(Long Island, N.Y.) New to reality fame is Divorce Attorney Douglas S. Kepanis. I recently interviewed Mr. Kepanis from the hit realty Bravo network TV show “Millionaire Matchmaker” at Pacha Nightclub in Manhattan.
Let me familiarize you with this latest reality franchise. The show’s star, Patti Stanger, is a third generation matchmaker. In January 2000 Patti Stanger established Millionaire’s Club International. Ms. Stanger, the club’s founder, is the former Director of Marketing for Great Expectations; the oldest and largest dating service in the United States.
Ms. Stanger is the star and executive producer of the wildly successful “Millionaire Matchmaker” on Bravo TV Network. Famous for her straightforward approach and razor sharp wit and tongue, Patti has been featured in countless publications including newspapers, magazines and blogs. She is also the author of the bestselling book, “Become Your Own Matchmaker: 8 Easy Steps for Attracting Your Perfect Mate”, published by Simon & Schuster. The publications are now available in paperback and are guaranteed to get you that significant other!
Cognac Wellerlane interviews Long Island Divorce Attorney and Bravo Realty TV Star Doug Kepanis from Bravo TV Millionnaire Matchmaker at Pacha Nighttclub in Manhattan.
The TV format of the show consists of Ms. Stanger counseling two individuals per episode, the millionaires, on how to find love in the 21st century. As the show continues, the TV audience is treated to comical scenarios, silent moments that prove awkward and sexy innuendos. The audience is amused by the courtship process of the millionaires and the people they have chosen to date. Periodically through the show Ms. Stanger will scold the millionaires for not listening to her careful advice on finding the right mate.
Back for the fourth season, Patti Stanger brings her matchmaking expertise to the east coast in New York City to rescue the dating impaired. Patti has a few tricks up her sleeve using a spy camera, lie detector test and hiring a make-up specialist from Saturday Night Live. Nevertheless finding love in the big apple may be her biggest challenge yet.
That is where Attorney at Law Douglas Kepanis comes in. I had the chance to chat with him about his unique experience on the realty genre.
“What did you do, answer a casting call to be on the show?” I inquired.
“Yes, you have to be single and successful,” revealed Mr. Kepanis.
“Tell me about your experience on getting on the show,” I asked.
“They found me through my website, my law firm and they asked me if I was single and the next thing I know they sent out a camera crew to interview me and two months later I am in the city filming with Patti and away it went. It was like a world wind. It was crazy, I never expected anything like it,” confessed Mr. Kepanis.
“Did you like what they did with you on the show, were you happy with it,” I asked?
“I think they had me come across as a sex maniac which is a little bit over the top. I do like getting to know someone before I just drop into bed with them. They had me taking my shirt off in two minutes on the show when it was really more like after an hour and a half interview. They wanted to see my tattoos. It’s not just like I took off my shirt, like I was a Chippendale dancer. It’s called editing,” confessed Douglas Kepanis.
I asked if he would do it again.
“Why not, it’s great, the more TV the better whether it good or bad it’s still publicity, someone is talking about you,” grinned Doug.
