(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating a fire that killed a woman in Sayville on Sunday, March 6.
Fifth Precinct officers and firefighters responded to Revere Drive in the Sunrise Village community after a 911 caller reported a fire at approximately 4:20 a.m. After the fire was extinguished, Elizabeth Sclafani, 90, a resident on Revere Drive, was found deceased.

The neighboring residence on Revere Drive, which is vacant, was destroyed by the fire, and an additional neighboring residence on Revere Drive was damaged and the occupants escaped unharmed.
Firefighters from the Sayville, Bayport, Blue Point, Holbrook, Bohemia and West Sayville Fire Departments responded. One Sayville firefighter was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The Red Cross also responded to assist displaced residents.
Following a preliminary investigation, detectives believe the fire is non-criminal in nature.
