(Queens, NY) NYS Senator Joe Addabbo (D-Howard Beach) was recently honored by the Italian Charities of America as their Man of the Year at its October 20 luncheon at Roma View restaurant in Howard Beach.

The organization, founded in 1936 and located at 83-20 Queens Blvd., Elmhurst, was originally formed to provide assistance to Italian Americans during the Great Depression.
Since then, Italian Charities has provided support for disabled children, cerebral palsy and cancer patients, retired members of religious orders and others. They also offer weekly Italian language classes for adults and children and sponsor various cultural events throughout the year.
