(Garden City, NY) If “dance is the hidden language of the soul,” as Martha Graham stated Adelphi University students will showcase their fluency at this spring performance. Spring Dance Adelphi: Boléro opens Tuesday, April 30 and closes Sunday May 5, 2013. All performances will be in the Olmsted Theatre, at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (AUPAC), 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY.
Spring Dance Adelphi: Boléro features new choreography from Adelphi’s faculty as well as acclaimed choreographer Pascal Rioult’s challenging and dynamic Boléro to create an eclectic and exciting program of dance featuring the talented troupe of students from the Department of Dance.
The program features The Sleeping Beauty (Pas de Six from the Prologue) choreographed after Marius Petipa by Professor and Department of Dance Chair Frank Augustyn; the world premiere of Consumed choreographed by Assistant Professor Orion Duckstein; excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake choreographed by Adjunct Professor Jennifer Kreichman after Lev Ivanov; the world premiere of State of Mind choreographed by Assistant Professor Catherine Denisot Lawrence; and Pascal Rioult’s Boléro.
Performance dates are Tuesday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Celebrating its fifth year, Adelphi University’s Performing Arts Center is Long Island’s premier cultural arts venue for entertainment of all kinds.
