(Albany, N.Y.) – Assemblyman Mike Miller (D-Queens), Chair of Assembly Task Force for People with Disabilities along with Assemblywoman Aileen M. Gunther, Chair of The Assembly Committee on Mental Health, teamed up to sponsor the “New York State Assembly Legislative Disabilities Awareness Day” in Albany. A day in Albany to recognize the accomplishments of Individuals with Disabilities; including winners of the Elementary School Poster Contest Participants from across the State of New York.

“As the Chair of the Assembly Task Force on People with Disabilities, we sponsor this contest to educate and bring awareness about the challenges people with disabilities face and the contributions they make to society so that tomorrow’s leaders will be much less tolerant of discrimination”, said Assemblyman Mike Miller.
The Elementary School Poster Winner’s were selected from Gateway Academy, Holy Rosary, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Our Lady Queens of Peace, PS 1, PS19, PS42, PS55, St. Adalbert Staten Island School of Civic Leadership.
