(Long Island, NY) On Wednesday, November 23, 2011- 23:58 hrs. a male newborn was found in a towel in back of Saint Albans Apartments in Jamaica, Queens, NY. The infant was pronounced at the scene and the mother was arrested. After 1 year 5 months of hearings and the conviction of his mother, the AMT Children of Hope Foundation has taken legal custody of the infant and named him James Johnson Hope. James Hope remained at the Queens Medical Examiner’s office for the duration of the trial.
On May 14, 2013 the Queens Public Administrator has authorized COH to make arrangements for James’ dignified burial.
Services:
Funeral services for James Hope will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 10:15 hours at Saint William the Abbot Roman Catholic Church, 2000 Jackson Avenue, Seaford, NY 10050. Burial will take place at Cemetery of the Holy Rood, 111 Old Country Road, Westbury, NY 11266. All off duty members wishing to attend can report directly to the church or utilize the transportation provided.
Assembly:
Members requiring transportation to and from the services should assemble at the American Legion, 3484 Park Avenue, Wantagh, New York (next to Wantagh Fire Department Headquarters). A continental breakfast will be served starting at 09:00 hours. We will be leaving promptly at 09:50 hours.
