(Long Island, NY) The Art League of Long Island is excited to introduce a group of singers and young performers who will entertain and engage an audience at the League’s Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery on December 19 at 2:00pm. The “Warriors of Faith Mime Ministry”, who are based out of the Durham A.M.E. Zion Church of Bay Shore range in age from 12-18.
Mime Ministry is an emerging form of performance art, where the performers wear face paint and gloves to accentuate their facial expressions and movements as they interpret gospel music. The Warriors of Faith Ministry will be performing along with a gospel group called “Believe”.

The ministry began in March 2012 under the direction of Matthew Williams with four passionate young men who desired to bring their creative energy through the art of pantomime. They quickly developed their own style of dance in ministry that is undergirded by a deep sense of spirituality. In their early days, it was considered an all-male group that danced with purpose and strength, hence their name “The Warriors of Faith Mime Ministry.” They continued on in this path until the later part of 2014 where the group voted to include young women. They have ministered at many churches and conferences all across the country. The present group’s members, under the guidance of group coordinator Anita Turner, are David Edwards, Carter Hester, Tyler Lewis, Ysanna Hill, and Jaamil Harrison.

“Believe” is a Praise and Worship Team that is affiliated with the Durham A.M.E. Zion Church in Bay Shore, NY where the Rev. Leonard A. Edwards is the Pastor. Initially the group began out of a desire expressed by Rev. Edwards to have a brief praise and worship prior to morning service. The members at that time were Veronica and Jasmine Edwards. The group has now grown to include Jessica Jones, Crystal Jackson, and musicians Willie Bowman and Kevin Scarver. Believe’s mission is to set a spiritually filled atmosphere that brings people of all nationalities together through praise and worship songs.
