(Northport, LI, NY) More than a thousand Veterans were served recently by an army of volunteers from Applebee’s restaurants on the
front lawn of the Northport VA Medical Center. For a third year, Applebee’s has been a proud sponsor and participant in the Fall Harvest Festival
celebration held on the hospital grounds. For several hours, the grills remained heated up while hundreds of pounds burgers and chicken were barbequed and served to those who selflessly served their country.
“On Veteran’s Day, we honor servicemen by providing them with a free meal in their honor at our restaurants, but several years ago we realized that some of our Veterans can’t get out to our restaurants,” says Kurt Pahlitzsch, Director of Operations for the Long Island Applebee’s. “So, in order to
honor these deserving Veterans, we simply turned the tables and worked with the Northport VA Medical Center to bring dozens of cooks and servers from
our restaurants straight to where they live.”
