(Long Island, NY) “Meet the Artists” – a series of one-hour Artist Talks at the Alex Ferrone Photography Gallery featuring local, prominent, and award-winning fine art photographers and painters has been added to the schedule for the “Taste North Fork” weekend of November 9th and 10th. “Taste North Fork” is a new initiative by the Long Island Wine Council and East End Tourism Alliance to promote the area as a destination during the east end’s tourism shoulder season, and includes special offerings from local businesses.
Furthering the point that the area is a thriving art community while promoting the newest and only photography Gallery on the North Fork, the Artist Talks are a way for the public to connect with some of the artists, and learn about their personal inspirations from photography. Artists include Charles Wildbank, Hector deCordova, Alex Vignoli, and Jim Sabiston, who will be speaking about and demonstrating photography and the use of photography in their artworks. Topics include: Photorealism, Digital Photomontage, Photo Referencing in Painting, and Fine Art iPhoneography. Each artist will have pieces on exhibit.

Saturday, November 9:
11:00am Charles Wildbank – Photorealism:
For his large-scale paintings, artist, Charles Wildbank will be speaking about the genre of painting called Photorealism and demonstrating how he prepares his photographs for use as sketches from his laptop at his easel.
1:00pm Hector deCordova – Photo-referencing in Painting:
Hector deCordova will speak about the use of photographs as references for elements of his paintings, as well as the importance of photography to preserve fleeting moments for future paintings.
Sunday, November 10:
12:00pm and 3:00pm Alex Vignoli – Photomontage:
Utilizing specific image-editing software, fine art photographer, Alex Vignoli will be demonstrating methods he uses for the creation of photographic composites and the blending of two or more images to produce an entirely new concept image.
1:30pm Jim Sabiston – Fine Art iPhoneography:
Fine art photographer, Jim Sabiston will speak about how he uses his iPhone to capture, edit, and process images for fine art photographs giving particular attention to the growing selection of powerful image processing apps he uses for his work.
