(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Andrew Garbarino (R,C,I-Sayville) welcomed Marisa Carney to the State Capitol in Albany to honor her battle against ROHHAD, an extremely rare disease, and increase awareness for all those suffering from this crippling syndrome.
“I am honored to have spent time with Marisa Carney and her family. Their strength, love and determination are both moving and motivating,” said Garbarino. “Marisa is an extremely brave young girl and I am grateful for the opportunity to join her and her family in raising ROHADD awareness.”

ROHHAD Syndrome, Rapid-onset Obesity with Hypothalamic dysfunction, Hypoventilation and Autonomic Dysregulation, is an extremely rare disease with less than 100 cases worldwide and is currently incurable.
“I am hopeful that by furthering public awareness about ROHHAD we can move closer to a cure and help brave young children like Marisa Carney,” Garbarino concluded.
