“Over the past few decades, the great state of New York has become home to thousands of members of the South Asian community. They have made a profound impact not only on our culture but also on our local economies and small businesses.
“Since South Asia gained its independence from Great Britain, we have seen increases in tourism and welcomed their influence on our communities. Their flourishing heritage is complementary to our already diverse culture, and I proudly welcome them to our area.
“Thank you for the opportunity to join this fabulous community in celebration of India Day.”
