(Long Island, NY) “The latest task force hand-picked by the Governor to review the Common Core curriculum is a feeble attempt to make amends with teachers, students and parents who have suffered from unreasonable evaluations and excessive high-stakes testing. Unfortunately, this is the same rhetoric we’ve seen in the past; in 2012, the Governor created a task force that was criticized for neglecting crucial information, and in 2014, his panel did not even submit a final report.
It’s time to take a new approach. Instead of grandstanding and wasting taxpayer money, it’s time to bring Common Core back to the drawing board and include parents, teachers and education stakeholders in the discussion.”
