(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) recently joined hundreds of members of the community for a three-mile walk to honor Michael Gallagher, a former Walt Whitman High School graduate, who lost his life after a battle with colon cancer.
“Michael was taken from the world far too soon; but through his struggle with illness, he inspired us in many ways. I think the enormous participation in today’s event continues to show how many lives he’s touched,” said Lupinacci.

Shortly after Michael’s death, the Gallagher family created the SHEF Miles for Michael Scholarship Program to enable Walt Whitman graduates to pursue their dreams for higher education.
“I have every confidence that this tradition established by the Gallagher family will become an entrenched part of our community, and will continue to grow in size and impact in the years to come,” concluded Lupinacci.
