(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,C,I-Glen Head) has signed on as a co-sponsor of new legislation that would enact the Ratepayer Disclosure and Transparency Act (A.6892). This bill would quantify the effect that costly, state-mandated energy programs have on ratepayers in New York State.
“Customers should not be forced to use their hard-earned money to overpay for poor quality or unknown services,” said Montesano. “Many of the programs that have been introduced to reduce energy costs and protect the environment are laudable, but can certainly be expensive. This common-sense legislation would keep residents dutifully informed on how they are affected and where their money is really going.”
