A statement from Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head)
(Long Island, NY) “I am truly disheartened that months after both houses successfully passed eight bills outlined in the Women’s Equality Act the governor has yet to sign them into law. It is incomprehensible that these historic pieces of legislation have taken a back seat to political agendas.
“The Assembly and Senate worked across the aisle to pass each bill separately, with a debate and vote on its own merits. Each day those bills go untouched, the mothers, daughters and wives across New York State are denied the equality and protection they justly deserve. I join many of my colleagues in the legislature in the call for the executive to put politics aside and sign each of these bills into law immediately.”
