Press conference and drive to sign seniors up for Yellow Dot, Vial of Life
(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) today hosted a press conference to enroll senior citizens in the Yellow Dot and Vial of Life programs, as well as provide residents with Emergency Senior ID Cards today at the Westbury Senior Center. The Yellow Dot and Vial of Life programs along with the Emergency ID Cards provide senior citizens the opportunity to inform first responders of any important medical information in the event of an automobile accident or emergency in the home. These items are free to all seniors and Montesano was pleased to have the opportunity to sign residents up for these potentially life-saving programs.

“The minutes immediately following an emergency situation are critical when first responders dispense medical treatment,” said Montesano. “By having an Emergency ID Card or membership in the Yellow Dot or Vial of Life programs, paramedics and medical professionals will have access to seniors’ vital, life-saving information at a time when that information may not be easily accessed.
“The event today at the Westbury Senior Center provided a great opportunity for seniors to sign up for these free, critical programs and I urge anyone who couldn’t make it today to contact the Nassau County Executive’s office immediately and sign up.”
The Yellow Dot is a sticker placed in a senior’s automobile, informing first responders that there is medical information in the vehicle’s glove box, the Vial of Life sticker is placed on the front door, informing paramedics that there is important medical information on the refrigerator and the Emergency Senior ID Card is a wallet-sized card includes a photo and the holder’s name, phone number, address, birthday, emergency contact name and emergency contact phone number. All of these items are free and can be picked up at the Nassau County Executive’s office by calling 516-571-6000.
