Takes part in press conference restoring funding to OPWDD
(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) joined several of his colleagues at a press conference today introducing new legislation providing a full restoration of funding to the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). Montesano sponsored an amendment to the state budget this year that would have fully restored funding to OPWDD and has been a vocal advocate for the developmentally disabled and their caregivers.

Assemblyman Montesano addressing the need to fully restore funding to the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities at a press conference in Albany.
“As lawmakers, our job is to be the voice of our residents here in Albany, especially for those whose voice would otherwise go silent,” said Montesano. “It’s irresponsible and unfair to give bullet aid to pet projects and tax credits to Hollywood, while leaving our developmentally disabled and their caregivers in the lurch. We must act and ensure that our developmentally disabled community receives the proper funding they for the dignified, quality care they deserve.”
