(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,C,I-Glen Head) is co-sponsoring legislation that would establish the Aging in Place Task Force to study how the state can help the aging population reside comfortably in their own homes.
According to the Centers for Disease control, “aging in place” means allowing people to remain in their homes and communities safely, independently and comfortably. This applies to people of all ages, income and ability level.
“It is important that the senior population has an opportunity to reside in their homes if they wish to,” said Montesano. “Far too often seniors have no options other than moving to a costly nursing home. This task force would examine the various factors people face upon getting older – including physical, geographical and financial needs. I hope my colleagues in the Legislature support this bill so we can work to keep all who wish to remain in their homes and communities safe and provide them with proper assistance.”
