(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Dean Murray (R,C,I-East Patchogue) joined Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C-Canandaigua) and his Republican colleagues today for a press conference focused on passing meaningful ethics reform this session.
Assemblyman Murray has released the following statement:
“I’m proud to stand with Leader Kolb and my Assembly Republican colleagues today, to propose these ethics and rules changes. Instating term limits for legislative leaders and stripping pensions from public officials who are guilty of felony crimes relating to their positions are simple and effective policies that our conference has proposed for some time, and we are bringing them up once again.”

“Assembly Republicans have been calling for reform for years, long before last year’s events unfolded. It is clear that the Assembly Democrats are not serious about reform, as they have continuously blocked legislation that would allow for a more open and transparent government.
“Our conference brought 17 measures for meaningful reform to the Assembly floor today, all of which were promptly and overwhelmingly rejected by Speaker Heastie and Assembly Democrats. It’s time that the Assembly Democrats stop playing politics and give the people of New York the honorable legislative body they deserve.”
