A statement from Assemblyman Dean Murray (R,C,I – East Patchogue)
(Long Island, NY) “I’m pleased that the governor for the first time has included Mixed Martial Arts in his executive budget proposal. Allowing Mixed Martial Arts will generate jobs state-wide and bring in millions of dollars in ancillary revenue wherever an event is held.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to get this done this year so that New York natives like Jon “Bones” Jones and Chris Weidman have a chance to compete and take back their championship belts in front of their home fans.
“While the Governor’s proposal shows a commitment to moving forward with this agenda, it is certainly not a done deal. In the weeks to come I will continue to push and advocate for the long awaited legalization of Mixed Martial Arts in New York.”
