(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Dean Murray (R,C,I-East Patchogue) released a letter he wrote to the governor outlining the current state of energy providers on Long Island. In the letter, Murray urges the governor to support the building of the Caithness II power plant, a project that will provide a new, clean, highly efficient gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant. The project would also create good jobs and lower Long Island’s reliance on imported power.
“Long Island can no longer afford to have its welfare subverted by corporate self-interest,” said Murray. “The status quo will not meet the needs of Long Islanders who want lower rates, more jobs, cleaner air and water, an improved economy, and an infrastructure that is resilient and secure in the face of superstorms and other extreme weather events. Supporting the Caithness II project will be a huge step toward meeting these goals.”
