A statement from Assemblyman Anthony Palumbo (R,C-New Suffolk)
(Long Island, NY) “I was pleased to hear that the Governor agrees that we need to increase funding of the EPF, but he fell short on completely eliminating the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA). I called for the elimination of the GEA last year; our public schools cannot wait another year for the funding they deserve.
Regarding ethics reform, the Assembly Democrats refused to allow any meaningful reforms last year, but with the events in recent months, we must act now, and I hope the Governor is truly on board with the Constitutional amendment to strip corrupt public officials of their pensions.”
