(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the drowning death of a child in a backyard swimming pool on Saturday, June 13.
Justin McConville, 4, was with his mother at a backyard barbeque at the home of his mother’s friends when he was discovered by the host of the barbeque at the bottom of their 4-foot above ground pool at 7:11 p.m. The boy was pulled from the pool and the family started to perform CPR until an ambulance arrived.

The child was transported via Mastic Beach Rescue to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead. The investigation is continuing.
