(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in North Patchogue on Sunday, July 19.
Manuel Tecum, 37, of North Patchogue was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am northbound on Medford Avenue when his vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking eastbound across Medford Avenue just behind two other people at approximately 2:00 a.m.

The pedestrian, Florencio Cardanas, 58, of Patchogue was transported by North Patchogue Rescue to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he died from his injuries.
Tecum was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
