(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police have arrested a Bay Shore man for driving while intoxicated after his motorcycle crashed, killing his wife on Sunday, October 11.
Michael R. Proctor, 26, was operating a 2000 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Sunrise Highway in West Islip when he lost control of the motorcycle at Exit 41 at 12:30 a.m.

His wife, Megan Proctor, 26, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, was transported via ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Hospital in West Islip where she was pronounced dead. Michael Proctor was also transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Proctor was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He is scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.
The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
