(Long Island, NY) The First Squad reports the details of a Robbery Arrest in Freeport at 10:08 p.m. on April 12, 2014.
According to Detectives, at 9:40 p.m. the defendant James Marshall 19, of 162 5th Ave, Bayshore, approached the 35 year old female victim while she was walking west on Smith Street. Defendant attempted to take pocketbook from victim and a struggle ensued, the victim then saw a black handgun in defendant’s left hand and stopped the struggle. The defendant fled with pocketbook that contained an undisclosed amount of US currency and victim’s cell phone. Marshall was later located by Freeport Police Officers in the rear of 250 South Main Street, Freeport and was in possession of victim’s cell phone. Minor contusions were reported, medical attention was refused at scene. Proceeds were later recovered.

Marshall is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Robbery 2nd Degree and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree. He was be arraigned on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
