Suffolk County to Donate Over 36,000 MRE’s to Island Harvest
(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, Randi Dresner, President & CEO of Island Harvest, and Suffolk County Fire, Rescue and Emergency personnel will be on hand to highlight September 3rd as Hunger Action Day and September as Hunger Action Month. Suffolk County will be donating over 36,000 Meals Ready to Eat (MRE) to Island Harvest to assist the organization with providing meals to over 316,000 Long Islanders on a yearly basis.
Hunger Action Month provides an opportunity to join a movement that has a real and lasting impact on efforts to feed more Long Islanders than ever before. Whether it’s by advocating and raising awareness, making donations, or volunteering, individuals can find the way that’s right for them to make a difference during Hunger Action Month.
