(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone released the following statement regarding Governor Cuomo’s speech at today’s meeting of the Long Island Association:
“The key to unlocking the economic potential of this region is building a 21st Century transportation infrastructure. This is the key to building an innovation economy in our region, and Governor Cuomo’s bold, ambitious plan will help us to accomplish exactly that.
I am very pleased that the Governor is a strong partner on building sewers which are the critical nexus for both economic development and reversing decades of decline in our water quality. I am happy to partner with him on supporting the Ronkonkoma Hub, smart development around Republic Airport and making Long Island MacArthur Airport an international terminal. I also appreciate the Governor’s call for ambitious thinking and bold action because he is correct that any project must overcome the forces of inertia, bureaucracy and opposition which if not confronted, would halt any progress.”
