(Hauppauge, N.Y.) Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone praised Department of Public Works employees and first responders who quickly cleared roads and responded to emergencies after Tuesday’s snowstorm.
DPW crews and contractors using 315 trucks, including heavy snowplows, worked overnight into Wednesday to clear about 450 miles of county roads and open parking lots for the resumption of transit services.
“I’m proud of all county workers, from DPW to first-responders, who worked around the clock to ensure the safety of Suffolk residents,” Bellone said.
The storm, accompanied by bitter cold, left up to a foot of snow across Suffolk County.
