(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced that the Suffolk Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club will welcome two seasoned executives to the next meeting on Tuesday, April 22nd.
Both individuals volunteer their time with SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, to guide and counsel new entrepreneurs. SCORE, which is celebrating 50 years, is a free service and resource partner of the US Small Business Administration. In 2013, thirty Long Island SCORE volunteers provided about 900 mentoring sessions, which resulted in almost 300 new businesses starting and 130 existing entrepreneurs growing their business.
“SCORE’s mission, like that of the Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club, is to provide the expertise needed to bring good ideas to the marketplace,” said County Executive Steve Bellone. “We are grateful to the businessmen and businesswomen at SCORE who have had successful careers and who then volunteer their time to help grow our local businesses.”
The Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 22nd from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. in the Media Room of the H. Lee Dennison Building 100 Veterans Highway, Hauppauge 11788. (Use the EAST Entrance to the building.)
“SCORE speakers have a wealth of experience and their goal is to get new businesses off the ground correctly and to accelerate existing businesses working to get to the next level,” Club President Brian Fried said. “Inventors who have questions about getting started should take advantage of this free service.”
Each month there is an opportunity for everyone to introduce themselves and their invention or business idea, a speaker and time to network. There is no charge and no registration is required to attend the meetings. A valid ID is needed at the door.
