Initiative Aims to Reverse the Trend of Young people Leaving the Region
(Long Island, NY) Today, September 28, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone will be at SJC Long Island to show his support of the Institute for Attainable Homes at St. Joseph’s College.
The Institute for Attainable Homes is a project of the Center for Community Solutions at St. Joseph’s College. The Institute’s purpose is to address the shortage of affordable and sustainable housing throughout Long Island with the goal of reversing the trend of people (young adults, retirees, businesses) leaving Long Island. The Institute supports the growth of sustainable communities through the development and revitalization of homes and neighborhoods, and through economic development, like the County Executive’s plan for the Innovation Zone (I-Zone), as an integral component of any viable affordable housing plan.
