(Long Island, NY) The bench trial for an East Northport woman charged with multiple counts of grand larceny and one charge of scheme to defraud starts tomorrow afternoon at 2:15 in Central Islip, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
Maureen Myles, 62, was arrested by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office in 2013 for allegedly stealing the proceeds of a fundraiser to buy a wheelchair accessible van for a Huntington teenager. The defendant allegedly pocketed more than $30,000.

She is charged with one count of grand larceny in the third degree, two counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree, scheme to defraud and petit larceny.
State Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho will preside at trial.
In 2004 Myles was convicted by a jury of grand larceny and scheme to defraud. Myles made unauthorized purchases of cruise tickets with 19 credit card numbers she had obtained from her place of employment which were charged to the accounts of card holders.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
