(Huntington, N.Y.) Councilwoman Susan A. Berland attended the Heckscher Museum of Art’s Celebrate Achievement Benefit to present official proclamations from the Town of Huntington to Margy Hargraves and Stan Brodsky in recognition of their significant contributions to the arts and culture on Long Island.

Margy Hargraves, Museum Trustee and Immediate Past Chair of the Board, has been a steadfast supporter of the Heckscher Museum of Art for many years and embodies the spirit of the Museums’ founder, August Heckscher. She joined the Board of Trustees in 2002 and two years later was elected its Chair. February of this year marked the completion of three consecutive and productive terms at the helm of the Museum.
Stan Brodsky, Prominent Artist and Professor Emeritus at LIU Post, is an esteemed figure in the Long Island arts community and has exhibited extensively in New York, Long Island and throughout the United States. His exhibition, Stan Brodsky: Retrospective, was recently on view at the Heckscher Museum.
“It was a pleasure to present Margy and Stan with proclamations,” commented Councilwoman Berland. “They each greatly enhance the Heckscher Museum and the Long Island arts community at large. Margy has spent years advocating for and leading the Museum. Her grace and enthusiasm has made such a positive and long-lasting contribution to the Huntington community. Stan is a brilliant artist and we are proud to have his works as part of the Heckscher Museum Permanent Collection.”
