(Long Island, NY) The Executive Board of the Brookhaven Democratic Town Committee voted unanimously to endorse Suffolk Planning Commission Chairman and business- man David Calone for Congress in the 1st Congressional District.
Brookhaven Chairman Anthony Parlatore said, “Tonight’s endorsement is recognition that Dave Calone is the most qualified candidate for Congress. He is a life-long Democrat and I strongly believe he is our best candidate who will beat Lee Zeldin in 2016. Dave’s record of creating the next generation of jobs on Long Island, standing up for the environment and protecting women’s health choices are but a few of the reasons he will be a great Congressman. And his record of creating jobs in New York and working as a prosecutor to protect our communities and our country is why he’ll win next November. Washington has stopped working for us and Dave Calone is the person to go down there and shake things up. He’s spent his life working for New Yorkers, not running for office. It is my honor to give him the strongest endorsement possible from the Brookhaven Democratic Executive Committee.”
The 1st congressional District is comprised of the towns of Brookhaven, Smithtown, Shelter Island, Southampton, East Hampton, Riverhead and Southold. Brookhaven voters make-up approximately 60% of the voters in the district.
