(Long Island, NY) Richard T. Margulis, President & CEO of Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, was named a 2015 “Outstanding CEO of the Year” by Long Island Business News, the region’s premier print and online source for business and economic news. The 2015 honorees were inducted during an awards dinner held earlier this month at the Crest Hollow Country Club.
The annual Outstanding CEO program “celebrates Long Island’s top executives and signature firms and organizations, recognizing those who have consistently demonstrated remarkable leadership skills, integrity, values, vision and a commitment to excellence, financial performance, community and diversity.”

Richard T. Margulis, a resident of Brookhaven, NY served as Brookhaven Hospital EVP/COO prior to being named President & CEO in 2013. Under his leadership, this 306-bed, acute-care community hospital has launched a $60 million capital campaign to build the new Knapp Cardiac Care Center, providing advanced cardiac diagnosis, treatment and recovery capabilities. As well, the Hospital continues important outreach to the 350,000 Suffolk County residents served, locating centers of care within its diverse geographic areas.
Mr. Margulis began his career as a radiologic technologist and while working full time, earned his undergraduate degree in Healthcare Administration from St. Joseph’s College and his Master in Business Administration from Dowling College. Today, he is an adjunct professor in healthcare and business courses for the Professional and Graduate Studies program at St. Joseph’s College. He is a member of the boards of the Long Island Health Network and the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council and a member of the American College of Health Care Executives, the Healthcare Association of New York State and the American Hospital Association.
