(Long Island, NY) Brookhaven town officials and U..S Congressman Lee Zeldin will shed their jackets and ties on Friday, July 17 to play against local youngsters in the Fifth Annual Basketball Challenge at the Mastic Athletic Complex. The event, at 7 pm, is part of the Town’s Safe Summer Youth Program.
Town Councilman Dan Panico and Zeldin, who represents Brookhaven Town, will lead a team of All-Stars against youngsters in 3 on 3 half-court, pick-up basketball games. The All-Stars will include Town Councilmen Neil Foley and Kevin LaValle, former Town Deputy Planning Commissioner Dave Genaway, and Deanna Panico, wife of Councilman Dan Panico and a former Smithtown High School Basketball Captain.
Registration begins at 6 pm and games start at 7 pm. Prizes will be awarded to winning teams.
The Athletic Complex is next to the Brookhaven Aquatic Center and the Keith Romaine Memorial Skate Park, off Francis Landau Place.
