Town Councilwoman Valerie Cartright: “I endorse Dave Calone to represent the 1st Congressional District. He has been an active Democrat in our town, in our county and in our country for many years. As Chair of the Suffolk County Planning Commission, he has been a leader in protecting our environment by working to preserve our drinking water and by promoting renewable energy. I am proud to have worked together with Dave on these issues and I look forward to working with him when he represents our area in Congress.”
Town Councilwoman Connie Kepert: “Dave Calone is the right choice to represent Brookhaven and eastern Suffolk County in Congress. I have worked with him to bring together people of different backgrounds and perspectives to create policies that protect our environment and help create jobs in our area. We need a representative in Washington who can put partisanship aside to get things done as I have seen Dave do here in Suffolk County.”
Councilwomen Cartright and Kepert join other prominent Democratic elected officials in the 1st Congressional District who are supporting Dave Calone’s campaign for Congress, including:
- State Assemblyman Steve Englebright, the only Democratic member of the State Legislature from the 1st Congressional District
- County Legislator and Democratic Majority Leader Rob Calarco
- County Legislator Sarah Anker
- County Legislator Al Krupski
- Calone has also been endorsed by Brookhaven Town Democratic Committee Chair Tony Parlatore.
Dave Calone, Candidate for Congress (NY-1): “I am honored to have the support of the two Democratic elected officials in the Town of Brookhaven – the place where I was born and raised and the place where my wife and I are raising our three young children. I have enjoyed working with Councilwoman Cartright and Councilwoman Kepert on protecting our environment while improving government policy in order to help create local jobs. I look forward to bringing our shared Democratic values to Washington.”
