(Long Island, NY) The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man for Grand Larceny that occurred in Woodbury on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 10:00 am.
According to Crimes Against Property detectives, defendant Emanuel Jean Gilles, 31, did contact the male victim, 74, stating his granddaughter was arrested and bail was set at an undisclosed amount of US currency. After transferring the undisclosed amount of US currency the victim discovered the granddaughter had not been arrested.

Defendant was located at Brooklyn Supreme Court where he was being arraigned on an unrelated charge.
Emanuel Jean Gilles is being charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree and will be arraigned on Friday, September 18, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
