(Long Island, NY) The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man for Burglary that occurred on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 10:25 pm in Elmont.
According to detectives, defendant Syed Adnan Shafquat, 30, of Brooklyn, knocked on the door of a 48 year old female victim. When the victim opened her door, the defendant pushed his way in knocking her to the ground. He then took jewelry and an IPad and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The defendant is an associate of the victims’ daughter. After an investigation, detectives were able to arrest defendant Shafquat at his home without further incident.
The defendant is being charged with Burglary 1st Degree and was arraigned on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
